Starting from an understanding of Chinese writing and Chinese calligraphy, the presentation extends to an introduction to his own daily writing projects including a calligraphy exhibition in a vegetable market and a lantern riddle exhibition in Yongqingfang, Guangzhou, discussing the energy of the art of writing in Chinese society today.

As we all know, Beijing is the only city in the world to have hosted both the Summer and Winter Olympics, so both the Summer and Winter Olympics in Beijing have written a chapter in the history of world design. This talk will be dedicated to the design of the Olympic Games in relation to the culture of Hanzi.

在数字化时代，尤其是元宇宙理论迅猛发展的时代，汉字字体设计堪称重要的数字基础设施。发言人通过对于手工时代、机械时代、信息时代印刷技术和字体设计呈现的演进梳理，揭示汉字作为中国文化的重要载体，字体字形发展的各个关键节点。从字形发展的视觉探寻汉字设计发展的现代之路，从活字印刷为起点，梳理常用字的标准演变，将不同时代硬件条件和字形设计的艺术性发展走向进行了分析、研究，以期夯实汉字字体设计的研究基石。

In the digital age, especially in the era of rapid development of meta-universe theory, type design for Hanzi is considered an important digital infrastructure. Through the evolution of printing technology and type design presentation in the manual, mechanical and information eras, the speaker reveals the various key points in the development of Hanzi as an important carrier of Chinese culture and typeface glyphs. The speaker explores the modern path of Hanzi design development from a visual perspective of character development, and combs the standard evolution of common usage characters from movable type printing, and analyses and studies the hardware conditions and artistic development of character design in different eras, with a view to consolidating the cornerstones of type design for Hanzi research.

The presentation introduced Wang Xuan's team's participation in China's "748 Project", which overcame the difficulties of storing, processing and outputting Hanzi in computers, developing a successful Hanzi information processing and laser typesetting system and starting the second technological revolution in China's printing industry.

Hanwen Zhengkai was born in Shanghai 90 years ago. The font is beautiful, gentle, and widely used, It was one of the most important Kai style movable type of the Republican era. It had a profound influence on the design of Kai style throughout East Asia. 我们现在正处在一个信息时代，在信息的时代里边计算机是缺不了的。我们要让计算机来做事情就必须把要做的事情，变成计算机能处理的形式，这个过程我们就称为数字化过程。微型计算机刚刚传入中国的时候无法处理中文，此次演讲将讲诉当时是如何解决计算机处理中文的问题。

We are now in an information age in which computers are indispensable. If we want computers to do things, we must turn the things to be done into a form that computers can handle. This process is called digital process. When the microcomputer was first introduced into China, it was unable to process Chinese. This speech will tell how to solve the problem of computer processing Chinese at that time.

我们手机上的黑体难分伯仲，除了技术因素之外，还和字体创新难有关。今天手机屏幕的分辨率已经超过了印刷分辨率，可以显示任何样式的字体，所以更符合我们书写习惯和阅读习惯的楷体有机会闪亮登场了。

The Hei style on our mobile phones is indistinguishable. In addition to technical factors, it is also related to the difficulty of font innovation.  Today the resolution of mobile phone screens has surpassed that of print and can display any style of font, so Kai style, which are more in line with our writing and reading habits, have the opportunity to shine.

A brief introduction to the book The Golden Thread, but also to the relationship between calligraphy and typography in the European tradition. I  think that the writing method of The Golden Thread as an ecosystem in which all these different paths, tools, materials and potentials interact with each other, allowing information and communication to take place in different areas of society and to interact with us in different ways.

本次演讲介绍的是霸蛮字体中的湖湘文化根源，霸蛮字体实际上是基于故乡的文化，目标是希望能够从这种地方文化当中找到一些设计的语言，或者说设计的基础来进行创作，中国是文化资源非常丰富的一个国家，如果从地方文化当中找到一些方法来进行创作，相信会对汉字未来的创作提供一些帮助。

This speech introduces the origin of Hunan culture in BaMan Ti. BaMan Ti are actually based on the culture of hometown.  The aim is to find some design language, or design basis to create from this local culture. China is a country rich in cultural resources, if we find some methods to create from local culture, I believe it will provide some help to the future creation of Hanzi.

In many elements of Chinese typesetting design, the importance of punctuation and related design can easily be ignored. From the whole development process of Chinese punctuation, we can see the multi-level causes of the current problems. We look forward to starting from font design and combining with other related fields to provide better design ideas for punctuation processing in Chinese typesetting.

东巴文是一种居于西藏东部及云南省北部的少数民族纳西族所使用的兼备表意和表音成分的图画象形文字。其文字形态十分原始，属于文字起源的早期形态，但亦能完整纪录典藏。十分有趣。

Dongba script is a pictographic script with ideographic and phonographic elements used by the Naxi minzu minority in the east of Tibet and the north of Yunnan Province. Its character form is very primitive, which belongs to the early form of the origin of characters, but it can also completely record the collection. Very interesting.

As co-curator of “The Way of Type” exhibition, I have selected dozens of representative typographic works from the past 30 years, with a particular focus on non-print fonts. From posters to branding, from typographic experiments to cultural creations, these works use Hanzi as the main element, reflecting the unique cultural characteristics and beauty of Hanzi from connotation to form. This time, I would like to share my thoughts on Hanzi design through this work.
