Johann Christoph Bach (1642-1703)

巴赫原德文BACH，指的是小溪，而巴赫家族也如同分布细密的溪流跨越了三百多年的西方音乐长河，其中最出名的要属J.S.Bach，J.S.巴赫本人是热衷于追溯自己家庭历史的一员，他积极地参与了巴赫家谱的编纂，而这份家谱自1735年出版之后也成为了音乐史上一份最为珍贵的遗产，让现今世人了解到巴赫家族。

The Deutsche Kantorei Peking (DKP) has been singing and performing Western classical choral music in Beijing since 2010. In addition to regular large choir performances, small groups of singers also get together to work on dedicated chamber projects. After giving two concerts last year entirely dedicated to Johann Sebastian Bach, DKP is excited to let music lovers in Beijing discover the wonderful music composed for vocal soloists and choir by members of the extended Bach family.

We are all familiar with Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), probably the most famous composer of the European baroque era. However, Johann Sebastian was not the only composer in the Bach family. Johann Sebastian was likely influenced by the compositions of his elder cousins Johann Michael and Johann Christoph. He exchanged musical ideas, copied manuscripts, and produced in his church the music composed by his cousins Johann Bernhard and Johann Ludwig. Of course, Johann Sebastian’s style also influenced the music of his nephew Johann Ernst and of his sons Johann Christian and Carl Philipp Emanuel.
