For something that causes suffering of the mind or body, we may come up with these words: misery, catastrophe, calamity and disaster. They resulted in common sense: none of us wants to be involved and even exposed to the slightest omen in our lives. However, the grim fact is that we cannot make a prediction and may be doomed to escape nowhere in most cases.

Therefore, two trends came to the surface in the long history of battling all kinds of miseries. The first emphasizes human resilience and sustainability formed through setbacks and difficulties. They even claimed as "Misery makes a prosperous nation" and "Only can adversity inspires us to survive while prosperity diverts us to perish". All the more, some exercises or elements are designed to produce "setbacks" and then are embedded in high school or college education.

On the other hand, "the most shameless, insidious and vicious praise in the world is to fool the low class by turning the poor's hardship and misery into an inspiring story." said Wang Shuo, a modern Chinese writer. We are destined to fight misery instead of indulging ourselves in the process unless we have to face it.
